      Thank you!! That’s exactly what I was going for. Feel their history in a way that doesn’t have to get too deep into a backstory. Economic…for lack of better term haha.

          It is! Not all of them have this level of detail but the ones that do are godsend for consistency/speed when I have more to reference. I ain’t drawing Nia’s patterns from memory all the time lol. Also helps when I make small design changes. Like removing Nia’s flap on the back is just a hovering over it pressing L and deleting it .

    Now that’s a D’aww. Had to do a double take with some of the dialogue Nia and Yasha were saying there. I like that the ‘saying multiple things at once’, thing they do at a few lines. Like they’re talking vaguely to submerged emotions while trying to continue the conversation.

    And oh great. Circus made horrors beyond comprehension 💀

      They really have a cute dynamic! And you’re so spot on with the multiple meanings! One of my goals here was to have some of their responses to each other be loosely logical..but also saying/alluding to something else at the same time. I can’t wait to go deeper with what’s going on with both of them but lots of breadcrumbs on this page.

          I can’t wait to show y’all that character in Paradise or Else. And yeah, Sin will definitely go through an arc to say the least! Won’t have as much focus as Yasha/Nia/Mina obviously (those three get the most development in this story by far), but his trajectory and trials put ’em through the wringer for sure.

          Ya he was joking XD. Sin can absolutely die, though he’s definitely abnormally sturdy!

          Though his current insecurity in wanting to surpass Yasha is definitely a thing. I relate much more with Yasha than Sin in general but hey, outliving those that have slighted me™ is one of my motivations too lmao.

          Sin’s motivation always reminded me of Naruto but I remember you saying something about Thorfinn in regard to inspiration for his character arc and now I don’t know what the fuck to expect 💀.

          I’m looking forward to Nia and Yasha meeting Mina. Since you’ve teased lore around Mina the most I’m looking forward to her arc the most in this story.

          @Alex Le Yeah, what I can say is the future of this story will be very interesting! And you are correct that Adult Thorfinn is one influence for Sin for sure. Even though I’d say at this moment there’s not much that’s analogous yet haha.

          Man I can’t wait to bring back Mina in full too! The way she enters the story will be much different but I hope y’all like it. Quite an intense arc between her and Yasha to say the least haha. Was loosely inspired by Monogatari and Evangelion for stuff related to her (along with Shantae obviously haha). We shall see in the InBetween 😀

      @MysterBearKuma 100%. Sin’s actually a two or three times stronger/sturdy than average for a human. He just doesn’t seem super impressive cause he’s juxtaposed to Yasha all the time haha.

      Thanks!! Especially at the beginning of this story, I’d say Live Yasha can be a bit familiar in fantasy beats and concept, but I want it to be subversive in subtle ways too haha. Especially as the story goes on longer.

    I like how much Nia doesn’t fit in visuallly to the other island people. Her Aztec style clothing is really pretty!

      Right? Not fun to draw XD, but such beautiful attire from her culture!

      Yeah, Nia’s standing out visually is pretty apt to her character if I do say so! Despite being very close and outgoing with lots of people on the island, esp Yasha, she is very independent/okay with being alone doing her own thing. She has a big secret dream tied to a custom on her original home island, Cipactli Cay (which she hasn’t returned to yet since she left as a young child).

      Cipactli Cay is actually a huge part of the story. I am both looking forward to and dreading drawing a lot of heavily patterned clothing lmao.

      Thanks so much Henson! Trust me I’m not consistent /w my output haha got major ADD, but things have been better lately :). One thing I did that’s helped with my productivity is make a local React based app that helps me plan and schedule things all in one place. I find a lot of the one’s you have to pay for clunky or overpriced so I was like…lemme just make my own lmao.

      It helps that I can drag and move stuff around since my energy and motivation can different day by day but it’s really helped me offload mental RAM so to speak and get things done more consistently. I hope to be pumping out pages weekly for y’all soon!

          Lmao absolutley man, I’ll give you the app code if you want it’s pretty lean. And yeah I’m doing too much lol, luckily it’s not as bad as some of the images show. My major time sinks now are just game dev stuff, comic/animation stuff, and then a bunch of random day to day life stuff! I used to be doing a lot more generic non gaming dev work and certs but that’s done now thankfully.

      Yeah I wanted Nia to come in a little earlier haha. Yasha, Mina, Nia, Lalo, and Sin are important players (the first three a more so than the last two), and I wanna give ’em all their spotlight. In a way I try to write them so that in a differently executed story perspective, they could each be the main character :).

      And thanks so much bro!! Means a lot finishing these redos here in a day or two is actually a huge milestone. It means I won’t be doing anymore redos for any comics anymore!! All forward from here. This has been maybe my best year for growth in terms of art and audience, really grateful for y’all. Hope to finish the rest of the year strong :D.

      Lmao. She’s definitely capable of doing that. Though I think this fight scene will flow in interesting ways as we’ll see soon!

      YES! For me I want the origin of my deliberate homages to be obvious haha. Y’know I was talking to someone about this on discord the other day. Some characters are straight up homages to duck tales/wind waker. I mean Paradise or Else will have literal Socrates and other historical figures in it, despite taking place on an alien planet. This might be why I really like shonen like Jojo/Hunter x Hunter. Togashi recently just named some character and ability after Yugioh and Full Metal Alchemist verbatim lmao.

      I love that kind of stuff, honestly it’s very easy for me to make original character designs straight from my subconscious but I love throwing in random things to nod to my favorite influences.

      If my stories ever got big enough where Disney performatively gave a shit about said homages, then I know I made it LMAO.
