Quinna being exasperated at Nia is funny, but it looks like she’s kind of warming up to her there at the end. That boat flashback on the other page, was amazing btw. Great aesthetic.
Fantastic updates. That must have taken a while. I like the worldbuilding and sea faring. That sea monster looked very intimidating in the dark heavy rain.
Thank you!! Yeah it took a bit, mostly cause of procrastination though. Was fun doing like 140 panels in one file. Gonna take a couple day break from webcomic work, before we jump into the next segments.
Lots of whacky Circus pirates and manic red head island girl action incoming. And thank goodness for that, I’m running out of interesting angles for conversations lmao.
What I find interesting is its hard to tell if Quinna is warming up a little, or if she’s trying to get more info out of Nia about Yasha since she figures that might be useful to give to Circus. Also, I wonder what Nia’s gameplan here is, if any. Yasha’s already awake, they just need to find someway to get her out of those ropes.
That is an interesting interpretation! It’s true it’s mostly been Nia giving info about herself and not Quinna. I can say this conversation ends next page but still gots a bit left, so we’ll see something develope there related to your observation :D.
Yeah. And another problem is Nia doesn’t actually know that Yasha’s already awake lmao. We’lll see what all these parties are trying to do accomplish here soon 🙂
Lmao I can kind of see that. I was thinking more of a Zelda Windwaker influence but that might have been subconscious. Whatever they saw out there was definitely something ominous and it’ll come back into the story for sure!
Speaking of H x H, I read this while I’m rewatching One Outs. MadHouse really makes nothing but bangers.

They really are the goats. Up until maybe they’re more recent productions there’s rarely an anime they’ve made that I didn’t like or that was at the very least well made. And that just might be nostalgia.
They’re amazing. I think my favorite from them is the Satoshi Kon films, Cardcaptor Sakura, Kaiji, One Outs, original Trigun, Nana, OPM, and of course Hunter x Hunter.
They’d be the undisputed GOATS if they made my favorite anime of all time, but I often conflate them for having made it for some reason haha. Just like I conflate them making Baccano and Darker Than Black for some reason lol.

Also rambling for future reference if anyone’s interested, one day when I’m not busy with my 3 comics and am ahead with all of them, I plan to touch up a lot of these Yasha panels for even more character and background consistency!
I actually have recently developed a method to kind of have a more consistent way of doing blender/sketchup backgrounds for this story that’s more in line with the jungle scene in Episode 3 like the image below.
If y’all noticed too the village started to look a bit more simple in color detail recently, with less textures and more defined lineart. When we return to the island it’ll have more of that “cel shade toon” simplicity so it’s not as jarring with the characters. And I’ll update that for the previous backgrounds too! 🙂
When we go back to the main island, it’ll look something more like below in a couple pages. I still gotta edit some rock textures, and move some plants they’re floating lol.
That work in progress update with Froggy is pretty fucking funny btw. This is out of left field but I was immediately reminded of Antonio Salieri in that Mozart movie, where he basically is a level beyond jealous of Mozart.
Lol, Froggy is completely insane. I love her, or at least, the chaos she brings XD
OMG I remember that movie, I saw it so long ago though. All I remember is that that one guy was just like, the world’s most dedicated jealous hater LMAO. I forgot literally everything else but that dynamic was intense.
And Mozart was this weird and incredibly goofy guy pumping out genius music and making it look like breathing. And then Antonios just malding in the corner the whole movie completely obsessed with Mozarts every move. “His music is TRASH, why do they CLAP. I can do what he does but BETTER!” 😭😭
I’m subscribed to the pretty common writing wisdom of less is more in terms of being explicit with information. And this especially makes sense in a more visual medium like comics. But over the years I feel like you can still have lots of implicit things being communicated in an engaging way via generic character interactions in comics. And I find character’s explicit reactions to things just as important and entertainig as anything they might hold back or show only through body language or symbolism or some sort of action sequence. Though that might not jive with everyone especially if they don’t fancy my characters or what they’re talking about at the time or how it’s just generally executed.
That being said that’s just my opinion, and one pattern that stays true is that in most of my stories if there’s a lot of back and forth, there’s probably some heavy action coming in the climax! I am an action junkie at heart, can’t wait to show y’all the next few pages haha.
So kind yet in so much danger 😭, but at the same time she is doing pretty well with the whole talking thing atm at least! Let’s hope she’s not punished for her kindness 🙂
